About Us:The Climate Café® Blairgowrie & Rattray began in May 2016, inspired by the Birnam Climate Café, and has been bringing people together ever since.
We are an open, welcoming group for anyone concerned about the climate crisis and passionate about making a difference locally. Whether you’re full of ideas or simply want to learn and connect, you are very welcome.
Our Purpose:
We create a supportive space for sharing concerns, inspiring action, and working together towards a low-carbon, resilient community. A space where people can drink, chat, and act.
Ideas that have turned into projects:
Over the years, conversations at Climate Café Blairgowrie and Rattray have led to people launching several local initiatives, including the Strathmore Cycle Network (promoting active and sustainable travel), The Heat Project (providing home energy advice and carbon literacy workshops), Apple Pressing (turning surplus local apples into apple juice) and the Blairgowrie and Rattray Repair Café (encouraging a culture of repair and reuse) to name but a few.
It has also been a place for people to come together, to discuss and involve themselves in local campaigns like The Last Straw (plastic reduction), a palm oil awareness blog, and recycling drives for crisp packets and blister packs, raising funds for charity.
Protecting and planting trees has been another idea, leading to the creation of Tayside Woodland Partnerships to establish and care for local woodlands.
Get Involved:We aim to be a "can do – will do" group and always welcome new ideas and new people. Everyone is warmly invited to join us — whether you want to listen, learn, share, or take action.
